I've read that D2 has 9 scholarships and they split them up, giving partial shares.
But, someone else once shared that there is no actual NLI signed with D2. So, there really isn't any official baseball scholarship. More so, the "baseball scholarship" is sometimes just institutional money in disguise.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Francis - Not sure where you heard or read that, but my son who received a very nice athletic scholarship from a D2 did receive a NLI which spelled out the terms of the athletic money promised.
Maybe the person in question received academic money and a NLI would not apply.
My daughter signed a NLI with the D-II she signed with. It laid out the monies for that first year. After that, she had an exit meeting with her coach where she was told what her offer for the next year was. She did well and so, always kept exceptional monies in that scholarship. She had teammates who were not given as much a second or 3rd year.
I forgot to mention that she had academic monies as well. Those changed from year to year with only one being the one that she started her freshman year with. In fact, the ones she received later had significant monies tied to them BUT had serious requirements.
Francis - Yes, D2 schools have NLI and you also will get an athletic aid sheet that outlines the amount of the athletic aid. Not all D2 schools are fully funded so they may not have the full 9 scholarships available. However as pointed out above, you can also get academic money that is available to all students.
To clarify what may have been meant: If there is no NLI, it is true that you are not getting "baseball"/athletic money. If there is athletic money, there will be an NLI and the athletic aid paperwork that outlines exactly how much athletic aid is included. And yes, the D2 athletic money can be split up however the coach would like to split it and among as many people as he would like.
