Is it ok to commit to a JC and just tell the coach if a D1 comes along before I step on your campus I'm heading for the D1 and not going to your school but otherwise I am committing to your school? I'm wondering because there is a very good NW JUCO league and that could be a really good "safety net" option for me in the recruiting process.

"Safety net"? If you stay on the westside you're going to have to be more concerned with an umbrella than a "safety net".

Have you considered the eastside? Lots more sunshine, lots less rain.

How about Wenatchee? They have at least one JC...

Seriously...eastside: less rain, more sunshine, happy idahojoe.

As long as you are honest with the JUCO coach, I don't see anything wrong with your approach. Actually, even when my son called a couple of JUCO coaches that were recruiting him, to tell them he was going to sign with a DII, they asked if he wanted to sign with them also just incase he changed his mind or something happened before he reported in the fall. There may be some JUCO coaches that get mad and tell you to forget it, but many realize they have to kind of wait to see who the DI's and DII's take.

Attaboy! You're on top of the situation.

I was born and raised in Tillamook. As you can see from the tables it rains in Tillamook...alot. I've been in the Chicago area for over a quarter century and I'm still digging algae out of my ears!

I'm glad you found this site and it is helpful to you. Pass it along to a friend...they'll be glad you did. And keep us posted. Much success to you.
