Trying to judge Powhatan's relative strength from their record in the Southside District might be difficult. Other than Powhatan, the Southside is composed of rural schools of roughly half the size of Powhatan. Those schools don't have easy access to the resources that Powhatan has. No doubt that Powhatan has a quality athletic program, and they have been the 800 lb gorilla in the district in almost every sport. Powhatan is probably looking for better competition as it moves to the AA Jefferson District, but not so much as their neighbors to the east in the Dominion District would provide.
I had heard that Powhatan might have been dealing with a disciplinarian issue and evidently that was true. Seems they were down several starters and it showed.

Kudos to Cosby for getting the bats going never the less. I also thought it was classy for Cosby to acknowledge they played a team that was down several starters. The person running the Cosby site does an incredible job and should be commended as often as possible. Every School should be so fortunate to have someone as dedicated as he is.
