Another "Voice" of The Game Passes

Harry Kalas memory: Harry was a character. He liked to hang out at piano bars. As you can imagine a guy with a classic announcer's voice can also sing. His home run tag is, "That's outtah herrrrre, hommmme run." I was in the piano bar when a patron was being removed/bounced. Kalas did play by play of the event including, "He's outtah herrrre." He had the place in stitches.

truly a loss.....the grand old voices of the game are leaving us....and we wont see their like again....the corporate voices they hire nowadays, just cant compare....

Phillies games won't be the same without Harry.
I was a sophomore in high school when he came to Philly. Now I'm in the sophomore year of my 50's. They said he has broadcasted over 6000 Phillies games.

He will be missed.

Truly one of the great voices of the game. He lived well, spoke well, and he'll be remembered well.

Harry did Astros games before the Phillies.

It's true the grand voices of the game are dying off. Hearing Mel Allen say, "It's time for This Week In Baseball" to me was equivilant of seeing the first robin of spring. Hearing Mel Allen's voice meant it was springtime. And I'm a Yankee hater. I haven't watched TWIB since. It wasn't the show. It was the magical match of Mel Allen's voice and baseball.

I can only imagine Harry the K reunited with his partner in the booth Whitey (Richie Ashburn) up in heaven. He died doing what he loved the most...in the booth getting ready for today's game. Thanks for the memories Harry and RIP.
