Another what are your mechanics?

The PU rotates over but does not go up the line. It allows him the chance to get back to the plate. He really ought to move over but back up if he thinks there is going to be a tag at third. He still has the tag at third.

So in NO instance would the PU go up the foul line to so catch/no catch or catch and carry! The BU would have a possible tag up at third? Or does the PU also have to check for the R3 tag?

PU goes up the line for fair/foul, catch/no-catch WHEN HE CAN, i.e., with no R3. PU ALWAYS has the tag at 3rd.

Depends on what you mean by "go up the foul line."

With R3 or even R2, PU would take two, three or maybe four steps up the first base line, keeping his head on a swivel to check for the touch at third, and then hustle back to the point of the plate extended allowing the throw, if any to take him into a position to make a call at home, if any is needed.

With proper mechanics, no, BU does not have the tag up at third. That's PU's call....always.

On can of corn, sure, back up first baseline extended, but if there is a fair/foul or catch/no catch decision coming up, take a couple of steps toward first.

Fair/foul, catch/no catch come first. The tag at 3rd is call #3, and you can't take your eyes off the ball until the catch/no-catch is over. Then you glance at R3. If he's 20 feet off the base, he left early. If he's a step off the base, he's good.
