Finally baseball is almost here. Actually my son's high school team begins their colt league play next Tuesday, but he won't be able to play. He and several starters will be at football camp Monday through Thursday. Our tournament begins on Thursday and they won't be back in time to play on that day. My son is the starting catcher and the two backups are going to football camp too.
I am excited but very nervous. His coach has designated him the starting varsity catcher(he will begin his freshman year this fall). He will be on the field with a team of mostly seniors. He also will pitch for the JV team on Monday night games. That way he will have time to rest his arm for playing catcher at varsity tournaments on the weekends. It is time to "grow up" as his coach says. His football coach has told him that he is the #3 quarterback on the high school football team, but with hard work he could move up. So much responsibility for a 14 year old. Any words of wisdom from the moms?

sounds like a busy summer...infieldmom and like you said, a lot of responsibility...

my advice is to tell your son to have fun...first and foremost...and then to work hard and have a great attitude...and as always respect for his leaders...

we too are gearing up for summer...first double header is Tuesday...their Legion team is hosting a baseball camp at the college field as we speak....headed up to help with food myself here in a minute...they're feeding the little boys lunch...too.

they have college coaches/high school coaches and the Legion team working it...

they practice Mon and Thursday...play double headers on Tuesday's and tourney's every weekend...how fun!!!!

He graduated last night...I cried a little..

Pam, thanks for the advice. I will pass that on to my son. Graduation is one of those events filled with mixed emotions: sad and happy. I wish great success for your son and his Legion team.
I remember watching my oldest son helping his coach with a camp for little league age kids. It almost brought tears to my eyes. He was having a wonderful time explaining techniques to the little guys. The campers were staring up at him hanging on every word. So cool!
