Any Reason for Optimism

If a 15 year old high level player doesnt realize the value of practice and a strong work ethic and in previous seasons had gotten away on talent but that talent has caught up with him....is there any reason to be optimistic that potential will be met? Could this be considered a phase that some kids can fight through?...Oh yeah...add an infatuation with the skirts too.
