Son has been to the Senior Fall Classic the last few years and I imagine the Jr. Classic is the same format. It's not a tournament per se, it is more of a showcase. If I remember right you play 2 games each day, 2 1/2 hours or 3 outs/inning. Usually about 5-6 batters (wood bat). There are college coaches wandering about looking @ players. It's a well run event, usually beautiful weather and fields. Always very fun. Good luck to your son and hopefully you can go with him.
CaBB is correct, it is a showcase tournament vs a normal tournament. Historically, it has been very well covered by the Western Colleges, the Ivy's, and the Academies, as well as, other various colleges and pro teams (now they have separated the Sr's and Jr's, I would think pros would look toward the Sr's and colleges toward the Jr's)

It is all about performance vs winning, the coaches are look for pitching and follow up on position players that they have in their pipeline. If you are lucky enough to playing against or with a stud pitcher, you could see dozens of coaches clamoring for a shot at a pitcher at your game.

Hint: There are several games going on at once, if you would like to have a school look at you, you should contact them and let them know you will be at the event and you are interested in their school and then when the schedule comes out, what your team is and what your schedule is. If you are a pitcher, let them know when you think you will be pitching, sometimes you can have them contact the coach to arrange the rotation.

It is a fun event; hopefully it won't be 125 degrees!

Good Luck!

From our experience, if you want to get the most out of it (from a recruiting experience), send an e-mail to the coaches/schools that you may have an interest in. Let them know that you will be on X team, what your jersey number is, your team's coaches name and when you get it the fields you will be playing on and the time.

It is a fun, low key event, that can be very helpful if you make the most of it.
