I live in Seattle, what do you think I think about the NBA!?

Seriously, I was a huge NBA fan and Sonics season ticket holder for well over 20 years. I miss the game, but I do NOT miss the league. And I am glad that the rest of the nation is getting to see David Stern's smarmy two-faced slickness in a small slice of what we experienced here.
Doesn't the NBA and NHL season start on Christmas Day? Until those games aren't played I don't notice other than Celtics-Lakers and Bruins-Canadiens. As much as I enjoy baseball and football I wouldn't curl up and die if they missed a season either.

The only time I was upset was when James Levine couldn't finish the Boston Symphony Orchestra season last year due to back problems.

Agree - put me in the "I don't Care" column - I do feel bad for the lower-level staff and the arena workers - but no sympathy for either owners or players.

Question: If Basketball-Related Income (BRI) is $0, does the 1-2% they are fighting over make all that much difference?

On a positive note, heard good news about the baseball CBA - may have a deal soon.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Growing up, I absolutely loved playing the game. In fact, I may have liked it better than playing baseball. Not sure, but it was close.

But watching an NBA pro game is akin to visiting the Dentist. Too much play ground antics, no dee, I can't remember watching a game since the days of Jerry West and Bird following. I like the college game but still need only to see the last quarter.

I guess it's the same take that many say about baseball but I don't think basketball has nearly as many nuances and "game within the game" as does baseball! JMO
I'm going to say that I absolutely HATE the NBA. There is nothing about it that interests me in the least. I will watch the occasional college game but in all honesty I'm not a big fan of basketball period.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that David Stern is / was the best and worst thing to ever happen to the NBA as commisioner. He's the best thing because he made the NBA into a world wide entertainment power. You can't argue that he took the imgae and interest of the NBA and put it in places it had never been before.

He's the worst thing because in order to make the NBA a world wide power he sold it's soul to make that buck. First thing he did was put too much emphasis on individual stars instead of the teams. Back in the 70's you had the Lakers versus the Celtics. In the 80's and 90's it evolved into a star and team like Magic Johnson's Lakers versus Jordan's Bulls. Then around the late 90's it was nothing but stars like Kobe versus Lebron. In fact they are at a place where it's only one name recognition. Team basketball is a thing of the past.

The other reason he's the worst thing is he embraced the thug culture. All sports have their problem players who get into trouble but it just seems (maybe I'm wrong on this because I'm not backing this up with any kind of fact - all opinion) that the NBA has more incidences per player than any of the other sports.

I honestly do not like basketball and hate the NBA.
I'm with the majority here, I simply don't find it interesting. I enjoy the college game but the NBA simply isn't interesting to me as a fan. It's almost like the court isn't big enough for the players and the rules prohibit "interest".

I'd rather watch MLB, NFL, college football, basketball or baseball, NHL, NASCAR or some whack jobs chasing ghosts on one of those quadruple number channels before I'd suffer through a NBA game.
Obviously I haven't kept up so please correct me if I'm wrong but it seems from halfway paying attention to ESPN that the basketball players are shooting everything down so they can get the most money. The NFL players were going after things that would help them out but also help create a system for retired players and other things like that.

Overall it seems to me (once again I could be wrong) that the NFL was trying to create a system and they gave up demanding the most money to create it whereas the NBA just seems to be greedy. Or maybe my dislike of the NBA is making me want to see them in as negative light as possible.
