His average ev is in the 90s and he hits the sweet spot most of the time. This happened when he barreled the ball. Unfortunately this is out of warranty. But seriously??? Baseball is expensive.

So I guess I’m in the market for a new bat. Is there a “favorite” or one that is preferred by most college kids?

My kid swings that. I seem to recall him mentioning the Atlas has a reputation for durability issues but he hasn't had that problem yet. It might be something with the dampener if I remember correctly. It's a hot bat for sure though. It seems to be a popular gamer bat. Others are the Select Power, Dynasty, Omaha for Louisville. Clout AI for Rawlings. All those swing weights are about the same as the Atlas except the SP and Omaha are a little more end weighted. I've heard that the Dynasty is about the same bat except half the price.
Yeah I've seen it. Son's broken a metal one each year for the last 2 years. The Atlas was still under warranty, but barely. The Demarini was like a week beyond the warranty window. I fully expect him to break another one this upcoming season. Is there a warranty window for a bat that was provided as a warranty replacement? He wants a baum bat for summer ball because according to him they're less likely to break.

I think we are going to look at the Omaha and then power. We will see how he likes the more end weighted. I’ll have him swing those other two as well. Hopefully Dick’s has all 4!
My son has had and tried every bat known to man. His HS senior year he settled on the Warstic Bonesaber Hybrid and that is what he will be swinging his freshman year of college. He swears by it.
So he did some research and decided to go with the power select. He went from more of a balanced to an endloaded. He hit with it and really likes it. Felt the ball jumped off the barrel (when compared to his old bat).

FWIW, last year's Juco season I saw three metal bats break in games. Clearly, something is going on.
My son is on his 5th Demarini The Goods 2-piece in 3 years. The first one had the endcap shoot off & land on the pitcher's mound. The others broke at the connector-piece & telescoped. I tried all sorts of epoxies to reattach & it never held more than a day or 2. We tried a Demarini Voodoo for a bit, but the knob broke off. Most of these were right after the warranty expired, it sucks. 2-piece & composite bats are prone to breaking, I wish he could find a 1-piece alloy he likes.
The Louisville Slugger Atlas is probably the best BBCOR bat in production right now. It is a 1-piece alloy. Has he tried that? Other very good 1-pc alloys include the Rawlings Clout AI, the LS Omaha ( which he might like because of the end load feel) and the LS Dynasty

The Atlas is the one that broke! He went with the LS power select. Seems to like it so far.... But it is only a few days old, I hope it last a couple of years or breaks within the next 345 days so it is covered under warranty.
My kid says his teammates atlas broke in a fall game in the exact same spot as your sons despite being a metal one piece. His own voodoo, a couple years ago, broke at the knob but he found a guy who could put a new one on. (Might not be legal to do but no one noticed.) When i brought this topic up, he says he's been overloading with a team 34 select power and loves it. He says he's thinking of gaming a 33. Go select power!
A 34" select power is a lot of bat!! He must be a strong kid.

I have seen 5 broken Atlas in person (son's was one). Son switched back to his CatX connect and it seems to be holding up (fingers crossed). He wanted to try out the new Combat but the latest release sold out in 9min (what I read).
