Basketball?
With the start of the HS baseball season set to begin on Monday 3/13 here in NY my guy is still playing hoops. The Kennedy Catholic team beat Spakenkill last night and will travel to Oneonta for a regional final game Sat night. If they win Sat they play the following weekend in the State Semi-finals at Glens Falls.

As a result, if they win they He will miss the start of baseball and the teams trip to Fla that starts on Wed the 15th. Yes it's difficult for kids to be multi sport athletes. walk

Hey coach, where in florida? It would be nice to meet you. We are 10 games into our seasons here and many kids are still playing basketball. When the games don't coincide, some have baseball one night and basketball the next. Mind you, many of these kids have had little practice, but are well conditioned because of basketball. Florida high school athletic assoc solution, they may shorten baseball schedule once again.
My son was in a baseball tournament in Cocoa Beach. It was great - except for the day we had funnel clouds spinning over the parking lot of the restaurant we stopped to have lunch in... bothered

As for basketball, our school's varsity team is the #2 seed headed into the state tourney. If they go all the way, the title game is on the 18th. Baseball try-outs in NH start on the 20th.
Speaking of basketball I had the pleasure of being an invited guest at the America East Womans Basketball Awards Brunch this morning.

This is a super time of the year with all the teams that still have a shot to make the big dance in the selections coming up this weekend.

Next to baseball season there is no better time than MARCH MADNESS, be it at the HS or college level---nothingbut flat out pure excitement with young athletes playing their tails off for the glory of the school

Yes Hartford has had a great season to date. In fact they just extended Coach Rizzotti's contract thru 2010.

BUT

When a tournaments one and out funny things happen. Hartford has Maine tonight and Maine is hungry. I saw them play last night and they are going to be trouble for Hartford, There are no givens

C'mon Tom! Are you going to take away the fun of predicting a winner?! body-builder

I don't know how many games you've seen this year but I have seen Maine 4 times and Hartford only 3 times. Maine was just in Hartford for senior day. Lost by 20+.

Personally, even though I understand the concept of "on any given day", I feel like Hartford has way too much for the Bears to match up with. Huge nights from Underwood or Barker could keep them in the game but I haven't seen them be consistant in that regard. Compared to last year's club with 4 fabulous seniors I do consider this a building year.

It is a great tournament though and some games will be televised and that is a good thing.

My wife and I hosted the Albany team last night, as we have in previous years, as they played Maine--- if Maine comes out and Underwood does her thing it can be tough for Hartford-- Stony Brook is also a very formidable competition--Yes I think the Hawks should win but I have also seen them on down nights this year so like I say, "on any given nite'

I am looking forward to a great game tonight at 6 PM

And you know what--it is just great fun being in attendance and being part of the great college atmosphere-- win or lose on the court nobody truly loses in the overall picture.

Great College Experience !!!!

One other thing--them young ladies are tall!!!
