I just got a sample pair to try. Of couse, they came too late for my travel season play, but I will try them at a showcase this week. Anyone else have them? Brian Roberts from the Oriole's has used them, as has Tiger Woods!

I just tried the black ones. Right after I put them on - they hit a flyball to me - I ran full speed into the centerfield fence. (Just like Carl Furillo - You probably dont know who he is - LOL).
Knocked myself out cold.
Whatever you do - dont try the black ones. IMO.

I know that fancy contact lenses aren't anywhere in the same conversation as steroids or HGH, but it certainly is amazing how much "performance enhancing" capabilities we have today, both legal and illegal.

I've never heard of these but when my son's team was shaking their opponents hands after a game recently, one of their players was looking up at me and I assume these are what he was wearing. It's FREAKY looking!!!

It's true you need to go to an eye doctor to get a sample pair. While you don't have to have bad eyes, (needing a prescription) you do need a prescription from the eye doctor. The red ones are for sports with a moving object: baseball, football, tennis, etc. The hazel ones are for sports such as rowing, hiking, golf, runners, etc.
They cost about $20 a pair and will last quite awhile since you would only wear them occassionally. They are FRICKEN' awesome to see on someone. Talk about intimidating the batter from the mound. You look possessed!
You can really pick up the seams on the baseball when it's coming at ya too. Anything red really stands out.

Thanks, definetly going to give these a try in a scrimmage or a game that holds little barring on anything of importance first to see if I like how they feel.
Used them, liked them, comfortable, saw ball well, looked REAALLLY STRANGE!!!

people told me I looked like the devil, but they really seemed to work as far as seeing the ball on a sunny day.
Here's a negative post about the Nike lenses.
One of my son's teammates used these this season and it didn't help. I would say that it hurt him. He batted .300+ in 2005 without the lenses, and this season he batted in the .200's. So, it may work for some, and some it won't.

My son's optometrist gave him some on trial, although I thought they were more amber or orange than red ...?
He was supposed to try them for three days to see how he would adjust to them. He tried them at BP once and rushed to take them out. He thought they were just too weird and a distraction.
The Nike line on these is that they enhance depth perception and differentiation. Sounds like a lot of marketing BS to me, but I guess there might be some science behind it. Still, if you're already hitting the ball hard a good part of the time, you have to wonder how much more you can milk out of your AB's. And all you can do is hit the ball hard. Your contacts can't steer the ball away from the fielders for you!

they are tough to get used to if you dont wear contact to begin with.
i used them and had mixed feelings. i no longer use them. on sunny days i felt blinded since it brightened everything up even more. on cloudy overcast days they seemed to be alright since it made it look like it was just sunny outside.
overall opinion is just to try them out since they are not expensive. i dont like them
