Looking at their website the school seems to be nestled beautifully in the Blue Ridge mountains with about 16,000+ students.

Anyone have any experience with their coaching staff, playing on this "all turf" playing surface, etc?

Thanks in advance!

My son has played in several tournaments at App. St. and been to their winter camp. He loves the town, enjoyed the playing surface, and thought Boone in September was about the nicest place he had ever been. When I took him back for the winter camp, he couldn't believe how cold it was.

The coaches showed interest in my son, but ultimately didn't offer. If they had, I think there is no doubt he would have signed (even with the cold). Our interaction with the coaches was all positive and my impression is they are building a strong program.
Was there in October; got to meet two of their coaches and see their facilities. For a mid-sized program you will not find nicer facilities.

Coaches were very plesant and talked to my eldest (the baseball player) for a while even though we were in town to see his brother run cross country.

The campus is lovely with much of it less than 5-10 years old. The town was pretty and clearly proud of the school and what it does for the area.
Excellent program , great school. The playing surface is very nice. The only dirt on the field is the mound and home plate area. Lots of rain in the mountains so it helps with preventing rain outs. It plays true , no bad hops but it plays fast. It is a launching pad the ball really flys there. The coaching staff is outstanding and they have really recruiting well the last couple of years. The only down side is the cold. I have been in Boone in June and it can be chilly on some days even in the summer.

They usually play a very good non conf schedule and have an indoor facility to practice in and work out in as well.
I think I went to Boone when I was younger to snow ski. If I'm not mistaken there is a ski resort there.

Anyways, you mention recruiting CM. My son said they are quite agressive. He's enjoying the phone calls...lol.

I was hoping that maybe someone had some experience with any of the coaches in some capacity. As we've said all along, fit is different for each player. I think my son would love a place like Boone, and playing in a very competitive conference. But the thing that is hardest to find out is about coaches.
I know the coaches have spoken to them many times and have had a few guys go play there some are still there. They are great guys. Yes there is a ski resort there we went to Boone over Christmas break my son wanted to go snow boarding. Sugar Mountain is the name of the resort. Boone is an awesome town its all about App State.
Coach Pollard has done a great job out there. I have worked several camps/showcases there with him and its been a top notch experience. Great facilities and a wonderful small college town feel in my opinion. They have had a decent amount of players obtain all conference and other accolades as well as being drafted. This is a program I would not hesitate to recommend to one of my players at this point.
