We played Arch Bishop Malloy in Myrtle Beach over spring break and they had a couple of kids that I was impressed with. A big first baseman/pitcher last name Rizzuto and a pitcher by the last name Doran. Can anyone tell me how the teams year is going. I'm the head coach at Greenbrier christian in Chesapeake, Va. and interested in following them.

Thanks Mrs. Rizzotti, I saw where your son was ranked in Baseball America's prospect plus. Tell him congrats from me. Also tell coach congrats on his season. It was a good game in Myrtle Beach and your kids had class. Greenbrier Christian is presently 22-9 and in the semis today of our state championship. Good luck in the play-offs and sorry for the spelling of your last name. Smile
TRhit, Thanks for the help. Have you seen Arch Bishop Malloy play? South Paws Mom, We won our state semi final game friday night against Covenant School 10-0 it was 0-0 till the top of the 9th and we scored 10. dropped the championship game on saturday to Notre Dame Academy 5 to 3. Good squad well coached. We finished year 25 and 10 and Notre Dame finished 35 and 8 according to local paper. Good luck to your boys and keep me informed. Coacht
Barbara I probably met you yesterday and didn't ask if you were Southpaws mom, I came to the game to see a friends son who has been injured all season "possibly" get a chance to play. I was probably right behind you. The game was very exciting to watch they showed alot of heart. I wish it was 9 innings they probably would have won. Smile
Thank you TR, he went low but we are all very happy and proud of him. (Does this mean we have to stop being Yank fans???)

Turn2Mom:

I wish I would have met you. I was like a crazy woman as I ran out of my office (Monday is our busiest day of the week and yesterday was a horror) to get a glimpse of the game. I was all out of sorts as I was so pressed for time. When I had to leave to go back to the office, the game was 5-0, 20 minutes later it was a tie. It was ups and downs for both sides.

I would love to see Farrell take it all, they played a real good game yesterday. Better, yet that then injured player is 100% and in the championship game!

P.S. Not that I'm superstious but I have always brought my silver lab puppy to the games and Molloy always won. Yesterday, the pup stayed home! (:
LOL! You hot it right on the nose! We have a system, if I'm stuck in the office, the other Mom's call me to give me updates every 20 mins or when we score. It's also a given that someone will call me when Matt's at the plate to give me the "live pitch count".

And I thought Little Laeague was crazy - when he played on 3 teams and had to change uniforms in the car with me speeding through a McDonalds drive-thru so he could eat in between games.

Isn't having a baseball son the best, Turn2?

Who is your son and where does he play?
Sorry I missed your post, my son played HS ball at St. Dom's and just completed 2nd college season at Pace University, shortstop - Ricky Piovesan. I enjoy every moment of it the miles and miles of driving wouldn't give up one moment of it. My greatest friends are baseball people "they get it" my own sisters don't "get it". Enjoy your summer when things settle down let me know where I can follow Matt this summer he's now on my list of players to follow.
southpawsmom,
who's long standing home run record did your son just surpass ? i have a good friend in va. beach who played for that school many years ago, and was a first round pick for the cardinals out of malloy ! it just might have been his record ?
sounds like you have a very talented young man ! best of luck to him in the future !
Xaverian went all the way and won the CHSSA championship. Good for them! They're a spunky team with tons of talent.

Hi Turn2:
We visited Pace, it's a beautiful school (I was soooo impressed with the stables). Matt knows the assistant coach at Pace and really likes him. What summer team does your son play for?

Matt is still in baseball heaven over being drafted. He played in the CHSSA Senior Classic today and will soon be busy with summer ball.
Next life, I'm coing back as a ball player!

Driller, I don't know the answer about who set the Molloy record but I'll try to find out. I heard it stood for 46 years, I don't even know what the record was but I think Matt hit 16, he probably could have hit more but he was walked a lot.
southpawsmom,
eddie kurpiel (very close on the spelling) was drafted in the first round by the cardinals in 1971 out of molloy. he played right field, first base and as the stories go was quite a left-handed pitcher. he went on to play 12+ years of professional baseball with the cardinals, angels, mets and in mexico. he actually made it to the bigs for a brief stint with the cardinals !
best of luck to your son !!
ahsbb,
I am embarrassed by the riches of choices and am grateful that we have the opportunity to see alot of the future stars beginning their careers with the NYMets and Yankees. I am impressed and not surprised Jeremy would be invited to the Cape that's a real feather in his cap.

SouthPawMom,
We are also thrilled he is back on the field, see you real soon I'm sure
