I posted a similar topic, but did not get much of a response. We are all waiting on practice to start, so we can start teaching. Do you think a lot of coaches in your association (TN is TSSAA) are cheating, giving instruction and coaching when the rules do not allow it?
I have a love and passion for this game, and I want to be a great coach!!!

You bet there are those that are cheating. When tryouts come and some kids get cut, those coaches had better be prepared to explain their actions to their AD, Principal and the state's association. It seems that every now and then, a parent complains with evidence and keep in mind that there are cell phones everywhere. Instead of breaking rules, I used this time to get my players stronger. We filled our guy up at 6 in the morning with guys doing plyos and weightlifting. Then, when we entered the season, they were already in shape and ready to get to work at skills.
We have been conditioning since November 1st. According to the TSSAA conditioning is weight lifting (as long as it is not sport specific) and throwing (pitchers and position players), and obviously, running. January 1st started out "Open Facilities" period. Players are allowed to hit and use all of our facilities, but we cannot instruct, again, other than throwing mechanics.

What have you been allowed to do for preseason work?
