You all played Bob Jones early. They've improved dramatically since then. Completely different team. They handled Sparkman winning 2-0. Sparkman's starters took game 3 against Bob Jones' backups. Bob Jones also split with Grissom and beat Satsuma and Foley who are also in the playoffs.

Bell has this team looking much better. I expect them to be competitive.
In the first game we pitched our 3-6 pitchers. In the second game our Ace, who is also a big bat for us, tried to tough it through severe case of Bronchitis on the mound, but he couldn't do it.

Strangely, we left some of our better guys on the bench and never pitched our #2 pitcher. Started our #3 pitcher who had a sore arm and changed our hitting line up that had been red hot for a month. Not sure we would have won it though, but certainly would have made it much closer. Think we outsmarted ourselves.

Congrats to Huntsville. Played well. Those lefties are tough on the mound! Good luck.

My ranking:
Grissom
Huntsville
Bob Jones
Sparkman

Hard to argue Sparkman over Jones since we swept them--even for a Hazel Green guySmile.

Got to be honest, not a big fan of your coach. Glad he's your's, we love our new guy, Coach Orr. If I recall, you're son's a freshman, and I wish him well. My son is a senior, and has played with many of the Huntsville, Grissom, and Sparkman kids in travel ball over the years, so maybe my view is biased. Edwin was on one of the teams my son played for two years ago, and I have much respect for him and his dad. Sorry to hear he was sick. It does sound like the strategy was pitch your #1 in game two against Huntsville's #2, therefore hoping for a split knowing crazy things can happen in the third game.
Again, good luck to your son in the future! Enjoy these years, 'cause they go by in the blink of an eye.
Grissom wins game 3 against Pelham, sweeps Hueytown in the semi's this weekend, and now will face Auburn for the 6A state championship. I wish them well, and am confident they will take home the trophy. My son has been fortunate enough to have played travel with several of the Grissom players, and I am thrilled for them and their parents! Especially the Lawing's, nicest parents on the planet, keep rippin', Brandon!
