Cole1SS,
Don't worry about playing at a school that doesnt have a strong program. What matters is your ability. Yes, you must be referred to the actual tryouts, by a pro scout.

On your HSBBW profile, it says that you are going to be a junior this year.

Have you submitted your an Area Code profile?
Go to: http://www.areacodebaseball.com/
Be sure to do that, so that scouts in your area know that you are interested.

The games for this year start on Tuesday next week, so the teams have already been picked. But next year, they offer free camps, open to anyone who wants to attend. These camps are watched by scouts looking for talent to invite to the tryout.

Do you know anyone from your area who was invited to a tryout?
Anyone who went to any of the camps?

Sometimes you have to make chances come to you. Smile The next time a pro scout is at one of your games, or you have an opportunity to talk to one, shake his hand. Tell him your name and see if he has any feedback for you. Work hard,....and go after your dreams.
I wish you all the very very best!!!!

Let me know if you have other questions.
After attending the Area Code games I have some observations to share with future Area Coders and parents. Unless your son is a future Tim Beckham, don't expect to be approached by the scouts or college coaches. They pretty much stay to themselves and I suppose with the NCAA rules the college coaches may be worried about violating some NCAA rule. We were told that the players would receive a lot of attention from the baseball community. I rarely saw anyone speaking to a player, my son only spoke to a few scouts at the scouting forum as we went from team to team. Another thing to remember is this event is listed in the schedule as starting at 6:30PM, no one or no where on this schedule did it mention if you wish to speak to all 30 teams that you should show up an hour early. The forum starts at 6:30, this is the information portion of which all should be seated and no more visiting with the various teams. We were very disappointed not having the opportunity to meet these people.

Don't allow you son to go to the beach until after his game and by all means bring sunscreen. It also was pretty evident the elite players received more playing time, my son was in the middle of the pack, this is not a complaint just observation so don't be disappointed if your son doesn't play much. There were many coaches and scouts in attendance so the exposure is enormous. It was stated that many of these players would be contacted by various organizations in the near future. I'll let you all know whether this indeed happens in our case. Good luck.
