how are those il orioles doing so far this year? how are you able to get to all these extras with the new wife and all? she must be a cub fan....she doesn't want anyone around when she m-f's the tv.....hey r u guys at northwestern this weekend? see ya soon on the fields....
fungo, I certainly agree with some of your evaluations but are you sure on a few of them you are not using past evaluations? Do you think all the players mentioned did well yesterday or when you have seen them in the past. One last comment, when I brought up Austin Wright's name as an 08 a couple of weeks ago I think Beenthere's comment was the entire world would know about him if a lefty sophmore threw that hard, well now at least a few people know. 88-89 is not bad after throwing a game on Saturday. Personally I wouldn't even have thrown him yesterday after pitching sat, but not my choice. Too bad he didn't get a chance to hit.
Fungo, what did you think of AC (Aaron Conway). He is my secondbaseman and is a fantastic kid. He ran an incrediable time last week up at the White Sox facility and then they had him repeat because they thought something was wrong with the timer. He duplicated that time. If someone else knows the time, please post it. I only know rumor of the time but if the rumor is true, WOW!
No, jmk, Austin is an 08 as he is going to be a junior at Conant hs this fall. He has always played up one age group since he was very young. As far as wild, I don't think so anymore as I have watched him for a long time and he has worked very hard on that aspect of the game. A couple of hard throwers that came up with that rep named Koufax and Ryan seemd like they eventually worked it all out and had pretty nice pro careers. The head case part you might be confusing with being young and playing up all those years. As I have watched him the last couple of years he has matured on the mound and also has a tremendous presence on the hill. I feel the key for this young man is to keep working and stay healthy, which would include proper throwing mechanics and hopefully a hs or travel coach that does not throw him into the dirt and leave the million been reference sitting on the table. Sorry jmk, I guess I don't agree with someone making refernce to a 16 year old as a "head case"
it was what i saw yesterday, what did you think from what you watched? only 3 or 4 kids touched 90, only a few sub 7 60s, and not many kids could hit the ball except jake, casey, and butch. fielding i guess you could really argue with my picks, but i think everyone would have different views i guess
lineshot...you took the words right out of my mouth!
The only reason that I can think of is that they might "invite" some kids who don't want to go; and, in light of that, they don't want to tell someone else that you weren't on the first list, but someone else declined to go....which could easily happen if they published the list before they received commitments from people.
Congrats to the Midwest Team on their defeat of the Brewers (Cali kids) today. Quite an impressive feat with all of the critisim surrounding this team. Michael Kazzmarek closed out the 7th to secure the 2 to 1 save. Great Job! Tomorrow the Rangers! Midwest team is 4 and 0.
Nice work Jake and congrats to the team. Jr, I don't think the critism was pointed at the players on the team, just questioning some of the process and felt some players were missed for whatever reason.
Again, the Midwest/White Sox/SPARQ team wins. 6 - 4 over the Rangers (Texas kids). Team SPARQ wins the Area Code games outright! Rafael Garcia with the game winning RBI. West Coast schools all over our kids. Jake Smolinski had 8 hits for the entire tournament. Great Job guys!
