wayback,

If both are important, have you thought about checking to see if you can get into a different Area Code tryout. They're not all at the same time.

The USA event in Joplin is something a player does not want to miss. There are several players who have played in both. It's kind of confusing why there would even be a tryout scheduled during the Joplin event. But if you're one of the better players in Joplin someone from the Area Codes will take notice.

Which team are you with in Joplin?
Hello;

As the founder of the Area Code games [1987-2004], we often adjusted the tryouts or made an automatic selection to the games for individual players.
Several players were placed without a scout's recommendation - Albert Pujols, Adam and Andy LaRoche, Jermey Bonderman, Bobby Jenks, Aaron Hill to name a few over the 17 years, were placed on a team because of their International experience with our teams to Japan, Australia and China or a phone call from an agent.

Jerry is correct, talk with the pro scout and request an alternative location. Anything involved with USA Baseball, Perfect Game Nationals should be highly considered.

The most important goal is to learn the game, to be creative and to enjoy the competition.

The player should do the communication, not the parent to the scout or to the event.

I recall a phone call from Bobby Bradley [the year Beckett pitched in the AC games]. Bobby said "how do I get into the AC games"?
Fortunately David Rawnsley alerted me to Bobby. Bobby said to me "I have the best curve ball in America". I said "you cocky kid, you will pitch after Beckett on Friday night. In front of 450 college coaches, agents and pro scouts, Beckett hit 97 and Bobby did have the best curve ball in America.
Both were 1st round draft. Keep playing, someone will find you and your tools.
Wish our American team success, we depart for Japan June 7 and host the Japan National Team August 31 in Cooperstown.
