I am familiar with the Cape Cod League and its history. I understand that there are 6 teams that by invitation only invite 150 college players total.

Could someone explain the Arizona League to me. I am sure there are a few out there that also would like a brief discription. Such as: minor league players only? When is the season? etc.

There are two leagues in Arizona with pro ball players. The Arizona Rookie League starts in the third week in June just after the draft and goes until Sept. 1st. It has mainly first year players out of high school and JC ball.

The Arizona Fall League starts the first week in Sept. and goes until the middle of Nov. It is comprised of the better minor league players who clubs think are close to being ready for a shot in the big leagues.

All players in both leagues are professionals who belong to major League clubs.
Savannah, are you speaking of the Arizona Collegiate League? If so, it runs in the later summer from late June through the beginning of August. Currently, it is run through Arizona State University and has used either community college field, spring training fields or both. It is hot during the games, for sure, but the play is good and the heat is dry Smile. The games are less formal than at the Cape and in other summer leagues (time limits, etc...) but there are lots of ASU players, lots of other D-1 players and some JC guys. It could be better, but it is a good alternative and the players get substantial attention, particularly from pro scouts.
