Wondering if anyone familiar with the program and Coach Murphy could give me any insight on walking-on. I am a RHP JC Freshman. Throwing 86-90 mph. I am a good student and have already been admitted to ASU for next fall. I have other offers but ASU has always been my #1 choice. Any info about the walk-on process there would be great or anything else I should know. Thanks.

ASU has 10 top 100 recruits coming from the class of 2007. They also see kids transfer out regularly. My impression is they get overstocked through the recruiting process as it is, leading some to transfer out for a better opportunity. If recruited players are struggling to get the playing time they were hoping for, I don't know how much hope could be held out by a walk-on. I suppose there are exceptions but you might want to compare their roster to their stat sheets the last few years and see how many guys play little if at all.

You would be shocked to know how many of their guys are either walkons or have very, very little money. By the way, one of the transfers out of ASU is a very talented young player from Scottsdale names Willy Fox, who was supplanted by two even more talented players named Brett Wallace and Ike Davis. Fox, as I would imagine you know, is at Wake where he is doing pretty well (I think).
