I have no idea about the current coaching staff but ASU has long had a reputation for over recruiting players and sending many of them to JCs and for cutting the scholarships of players at will.

If you are willing to take a shot at that super competitive environment then it could be the best of the best, but you'd better be the best of the best if you want to stay there.
I have some ties to the program and I'd be glad to share with you what I know. Send me a PM. Also, I believe there is a regular poster here who's son is on the team now. Sorry I can't remember his handle. He should be able to help you out.

Here's something that will give you some insight into the ASU baseball program. When I was in grad school there Barry Bonds was the third best outfielder on the team. Odibe mcDowell lead off, played CF and was a player of the year winner. Mike Deveraux batted third and played RF. Bonds hit 5th and played left. A few years later all three were starting CFers in the bigs.

His handle is jemaz...

I think that those who ask about schools like ASU and Texas can answer their own questions by asking themselves a simple rhetorical question frankly i.e., Are schools like Arizona State and Texas any good?
