My son (true sophomore, Juco, hitter/utility) has interest from an ASUN school, the most overt D1 interest he’s had so far. I’m trying to get my head around what that conference is like and if/how it may change over the next few years. Things that could be disruptive. I read the article below and my takeaway is that ASUN has been aggressive about creating possibilities for its schools to earn at-large bids, which sounds good. The HC has been with the program a long time and was promoted after the long time head coach stepped down couple years ago. I’m not dumb but I don’t really know how conferences work and how to read the tea leaves from a conference perspective, or if it really matters here.

CUSA had a similar conference set up (due to geographic locations) dividing teams into EAST/WEST divisions due to size. I like it the philosophy. Keep in mind it's all based on football.

They are not the only conference who does this.

Your son's choice should be about the team, not so much the conference.
