Baseball is my Numero Uno sport but there is something special about this time of the year when MARCH MADNESS begins to go along with the onset of spring baseball.

My wife and I have for a number of years been fortunate to serve as Hosts for teams at the America East Conference Championships--up until this year we did just the Womens Event but this year they are holding both the Men and Womens events on the campus of Hartford University and I have to tell you the atmospher has been electric for the three days we were there---bands, cheerleaders, dancers and high level basketball not to mention highly intense coaches--we got to host both the men and womens teams from UMBC and it was a delight--we are not only involved with them and their staff/players but we get to watch all the other game action as well

The arena was fully charged and totally electric--

AAAH !! where would we be without sports, especially at the HS and college levels--so intense--so vibrant and so much talent

Hope you don't mind me talking on another sport but the experience was a total gas and well worth the tired body and basketball bleary eyes--great experience after a winter of hibernation

Tonite Friday---Hot Stove Dinner for our new NECBL Team in Bristol, CT--will be super enjoyable

Tomorrow -Saturday--4 PM Pep Rally for the UHART Ladies for America East Championship Game followed by Championship Game vs Vermont--great intensity

Sunday ---at my daughters with my 5 and 3 year old sports crazy grandsons and her husband who is a sports nut to the 'nth degree ( Mets and Jets). You can rest assured that that the lasies will be chatting and my son in law and I and the two young men will be in the TV room with the remote watching spring baseball and NCAA Hoops--great family fun

Doesn't get any better than that !!!!
Did anyone see the Cincinnati-West Virginia game last night? With 6.4 seconds remaining, tie game, inbounding in the defensive end, Cincinnati brought in an extra ball handler. He dribbled the ball off his leg out of bounds against moderate pressure with three seconds left. A WV player then banked in a buzzer beating bomb from straightaway going left shooting righthanded.

I'm pulling for Utah State and BYU to have some post season success.
My cousin went to the U for med school. His favorite March Madness play is Danny Ainge going coast to coast against BYU. We were in a pizza joint near the U at the time. The place went nuts. The U was pretty good at the time. They had Tom Chambers and Danny Vranes back then. Both were first rounders.

You bring back some good memories. Too bad Utah wasn't too good this year.

One minor correction on your post. Ainge was playing for BYU against Notre Dame.

I wonder if the pizza place was The Pie. That's some good heavy duty pizza.

I got my story twisted. I meant "for" BYU. The "nuts" was not positive. It's a huge rivalry.

I haven't been to SLC for quite a few years. My cousin stayed and did research at the U after school for several years. He's now at Loma Linda. The Pie makes sense even though I'm not sure. He lived on South 1200 East and we walked. Looking at Google earth it seems possible. From my perspective he lived easily accessible to Foothill Boulevard which led out to Park City and Little Cottonwood Canyon.

I watched the WV/Cinn game last night, always interested when Coach Huggins is matched against his old team. Cincy made a great comeback, and I felt sorry for the young man that turned the ball over, but what a great finish.

The Ainge coast to coast finish reminded me of Tyus Edney for UCLA against Missouri in the Final Four years ago, that was exciting! But, as for last second memorable shots, it's hard to beat Duke's Christian Laettner's buzzer beater in 1992 versus Kentucky! MARCH MADNESS is Fun and you just never know year to year!? I wonder who the "Cinderella" team will be this year?
