Just saw that Auburn voted to change from Memorial to Pinkerton starting in the 2012-13 school year. The article stated it would impact a few hundred students. I don't know the exact number of students but Pinkerton is already the largest school by about 1000 students.

What impact will this have on sports? Also, how does it impact a Memorial coaches decision to take underclassmen that will be only there 1 more year?

Will students who have been at Memorial be allowed to complete high school at Memorial or is it a complete cutover?

Here's the Div. 1 baseball list with school sizes for comparison (from the NHIAA):

Actually, that's not quite how it worked at Bedford. The freshmen class at West, which included my son, left West and finished their last 3 years at Bedford. So when the school opened, Bedford had freshmen and sophomores the first year. The sophomores and juniors at West were allowed to finish their last year or two at West. I believe the same thing was done at Windham, as I recall talking to a Windham parent who said they only had freshmen and sophomores last year for its first year, which was why they had a JV baseball team and not a varsity baseball team last year. But that's just hear-say on my part, maybe a Windham player/parent can confirm that.

Does that effect roster selections for freshmen? In principal it shouldn't. But how does that effect the coach's selection when he has a choice between two freshmen, and one is from Auburn and will be moving to Pinkerton next year, while the other is from Manchester and will stay at Memorial? I'll give the coach the benefit of the doubt and say he'll do the right thing. That was the policy at West, and my son along with several other freshmen from Bedford were selected for the West JV team even though the coach knew he'd only have them for one year. To his credit he did the right thing.
