An OUTSTANDING documentary on Augie Garrido tonight on ESPN 2. I've heard him speak many times before and it never gets old. The man knows baseball and he knows how to teach the game. He's an incredible educator on the game. Baseball truly teaches everyone who's ever come in contact with it about life and how to deal with adversity. His passion for his team and kids is very evident and he never lets the kids know how much he cares for them even when he comes down on them.

Great program. Well worth recording and watching many times over.

Ok, I'm going to say this and quickly duck so I don't get tomatoes thrown at me.

I enjoyed the program, but I must say I'm probably not with the public opinion here.

The man is obviously very successful. The man obviously has a tactic that works for him that produces players and results.

But I found myself listening to his speaches and wondering what point he was trying to stress.

Now obviously Huston Street is a high intellect which allowed him to digest the point of Garrido's conversations. But seriously, the man covered so many different topics in conversation I didn't know if he was talking about a game or the worlds social security crisis.

I do think his approach in teaching the game of life versus baseball is an excellent protrait of a successful coach.

And taking a program like Cal State Fullerton from rags to riches took savy and knowledge and extreme foresight.

But every kid in the state of Texas wants to play at UT when they grow up. Recruiting the players for that program isn't difficult.

Again, not discrediting a single thing the man has accomplished. Just thought that sometimes his outlook was jumbled with a little too much for a 18-21 year old mind.

I really enjoyed it. He knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life and then he went out and did it. I thought his speeches to his players were fantastic. Especially the one after the loss when he explained to them that no one on the other team could play for them but they just got their a** kicked. Then he went on to explain why. His practice schedule and how he used other sports to set the tempo and the pace. All around a great piece on a great baseball coach. I taped it and I will watch it several more times.
