Anyone else think about the fact that HS age baseball players have now been at it since February; and now being asked to play at peak perforance level in August?

I get some will say you are measured at your weakest point... that you need to be good when tired, etc.

I just think that it is good to put the baseball down at some point.

And that point is way before MLB does, when you're still a kid...

And football practice starts in a couple of weeks, then as football finishes up basketball tryouts are held and the season soon starts, then halfway through basketball season we need to get our pitching arms in shape and ready for tryouts, and ............. the seasons never end.

Wouldn't change a thing.  Nothing like getting up on a Sunday at 6am on a -20F January morning and taking my 2016 to a great pitching clinic.  Afterwards we drive over to a commercial batting cage before they officially open and get some work in on grooving his swing, then off to find a new lunch place on our quest for the perfect burger - priceless.

My post was that it is good to put the baseball down.   We started football yesterday, played basketball and ran track. Rising into high school, track will be gone... and would prefer that basketball be as well... Will then allow to rest, condition for the other two properly.

Taking time off is important.  However it is also important to figure out when that time should be.  Individual circumstances are different from one player to the next.  Summer and Fall are the prime recruiting and scouting times.  The biggest scouting attraction in all of baseball for both colleges and MLB scouting departments is held at the end of October.

If you go to the link below and scroll down you will see many recognizable names that were still playing and/or pitching in late October. Health is always a big concern, but another big concern is "results"!
