Son had arthroscopic surgery on right knee for a torn meniscus in September. No baseball for about 2 1/2 months. The recovery was a bit rough especially making up 7 days of missed school. He is now out of his brace and walking and going to physical therapy. On Monday he asked me to play catch with him. That was music to my ears. We have been out on the drive way playing catch every evening since Monday(FYI the weather has been great here in No. Cal. clear and sunny around 68 degrees). I am in heaven as we are having fun and I sometimes I catch myself thinking back of that little boy throwing the ball without any idea where it is going to land. Now I have to use a catchers glove and he hits me in the chest most of the time. It is said over and over on this web site to enjoy every minute we have with our sons and baseball. I for one will make a point to enjoy each throw I catch from him and each catch he makes on my throws. He is getting anxious for baseball which in turn is getting me very anxious for his HS season. We are all lucky to spend baseball time with our sons.

That reminds me of a time when I was playing catch (long toss) with my son. At the end he wanted to throw ten change-up grips from 60 feet. As the first ball was coming in, I could tell the ball was having the downward break. The ball was about half way to me when I started to tell him "great throw", I forgot to bring my glove down with the balls break and the ball hit me square in the shin.

I hopped around like a Kangaroo on hot coals for five minutes.
