I have been told I was too harsh on arod+jeter. I was told that is how kids talk on text messages. I understand that ne=any etc. I think the goal is to communicate. since I read it that he was not cut and there is some confusion, maybe the writer could have been clearer. I would feel worse about hurting arod's feeling if he wasn't a Yankee fan.
bballdad...I had the same problem, I know that is how this generation text messages each other but this isn't text messaging...please type so we older people can read it and give you the reply that you need...I'm sure you can go to the "Players only" forum and they could read, understand and help you also.

I don't want to work that hard to read the message to help someone!!!
arod+jeter=best,

Please help me understand your post. From what you wrote, I'm not sure if you made the team or not. Did you make the team?

It sounds like you made the team, but your mention of transferring schools at the end of the year leads me to believe that you didn't make it. Please clarify.

Thanks,

Mike F

1) You have used the incorrect preposition by saying "on text messages". You should have used "in".
2) You should have capitalized "Since", considering that it is the beginning of a sentence.
3) You should not have said that "I read it that he was"... the "it" is not necessary and incorrect since you explain the "it" directly after.
4) Seeing the high standards you have set for this board, the use of contractions is probably a little bit too informal... so you might consider changing "wasn't" to was not. However, if you were really dedicated to this grammer idea, you would notice that you are using a conditional clause, in which case many would use "were not".
5) You should have made "feeling" plural. Certainly he has more than feeling, especially when he is attacked by someone much older than him for something this silly!

If you are going to rip on someone for correct grammer, maybe you should proof-read your own posts. The point is that as long as the grammatical mistakes do not cause a deterioration of the point or objective, it really does not matter. Thanks for being ridiculous.

agallan,

It appears that you've missed the point. That can happen to anyone, including a U of C student. I'm sure we are all apppreciative of your english tutorial, but some posters felt that it might be helpful to point out to this young man the necessity of writing more clearly so as to get his point across, nothing more nothing less. However, it is nice to see that you're getting your money's worth down in Hyde Park. Good luck this season, or should I say "I hope you have some luck this season?"

That is exactly the point. That error did not get in the way of my message, just as Bballdad's error did not get in the way of his message, just as 99% of people's errors on this board do not get in the way of their message. So it is not worth it to make a big deal about these issues. I made a cynical post to prove a point, I do not actually proof-read my posts for that type of accuracy, and I do not expect anyone else to either.

I have read Arod+Jeter=Best approximately ten times now. I have no idea what he has said in his post. I am a big fan of adults not pushing around kids on this site but when you start a post that "errors do get the way of the message", its open season on improvement suggestions. Sorry A+J+B, maybe you do need to review your next post so the point you are trying to make comes across clearer. We are all interested in your viewpoint and current standing as a member of your team. AGallan,
ice your arm and your brain tonight.
Gentlemen,
This is beyond ridiculous. There is no point in argueing over something trivial, especially a subject such as this. The heart of the matter is that A+J=B is frustrated over his tryout, whether he made it or not. Simply ask him what he meant, dont bash his grammar. Correct me if im wrong but isnt this a baseball board? I say lets stop all this nonsense and talk some baseball. Afterall, its right around the corner. Smile
agallan,

1. You talk "on" a phone not "in" a phone.
2. Since should have been capitalized.
3. The missing "s" was a typo which as I said we all make.
4. The use of contractions is not an error was not an error, but a cheap shot to make my post seem worse.

If you think my calling out arod for what he wrote is "setting a high" standard, I hope you aren't a school teacher. Every one would be going to Harvard.
