My son will be pitching in college next spring and would like a bag to carry his gear for Christmas. Since he will not need to carry a bat I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a bag that would hold a pitcher's gear. I looked online but could not find anything specific to a pitcher. Then it occured to me if anyone has a good suggestion it would be someone on hsbaseballweb
Thanks in advance.

First find out if your son's school provides the bags before you spend money on something he will not use. Smile
I am a pitcher only and the backpack type bags are amazing. he could carry a bat if he want's to (he probably won't but everyone loves options) and there is room for everything he would ever want to put in there plus i believe a seperate compartment for cleats in most which means his glove won't have an un-Godly stench by the end of the summer. Then he will be able to carry it on both shoulders, it is durable, and looks pretty cool. I would say use the duffel bag as a last resort maybe because everything will just get thrown into it and the cleats inside won't be a good idea after a whole season. Best of luck on finding a good bag
Bigheat,
Thank you for your suggestion. I have been thinking about a backpack also but have not looked too far. I definitely want a bag that has a separate compartment for wet cleats. The Nike bag I am looking at has one as well as an insulated compartment to keep the water bottle cold. I will ask him for his preference without being too specific. After all it's supposed to be somewhat of a surprise. Good luck with your college career and thanks for responding.
my son has a med size nike duffle bag. of course this year will probably have to find an under armour bag because of sponsorship. He seems to love it. He carrys his bands, soft heavy balls, rosin, nail file, extra cleats, a spare glove. Find something large enough to carry what he wants to take, but not so large to be a hassle to deal with. Ive found that a pitcher only, in college, is a whole new kind of animal.
Cbrem,
Thank you for your reply. It sounds like you have some experience with this. I never thought about bands, heavy balls, etc.. I ordered the Nike Ultimate All Weather Bag and a medium duffle bag from LLBean. The LLBean bag will be useful in some way for traveling or for short trips home (2 hours away). I don't think there will be any chance for sponsorship from his school.
Thanks again and thank you to Hsbaseballweb for allowing me to ask such dumb questions.
Cbrem,
Thank you for your kind words and congratulations for your son. We went into this recruiting process to get the edge it takes to get into a great academic school and it worked out. We are delighted that our son is now attending a great school which may not have been possible without the pull that an athlete has even though he had stellar Sat's. It is just such a crapshoot unless you have a hook. Quite expensive but worth it I hope.
