The only way faking to first can be illegal when off the rubber is if the umps felt he did it to delay the game. I can't imagine doing it once would qualify.
Incorrect call. Pitcher can feint to third here, and once he's disengaged he can feint to first (or anywhere else for that matter).
bad call, agreed.......as to why, I feel and I have said here many times that balks are subject to the experience of the umpire calling them....
