my last game pitching the ump told me i needed to have my glove under my chin when i came set in the stretch. i have never heard this before. so do you guys know if this would be a balk?
piaa_ump please correct me if I am wrong on this but several years ago under NFHS rules it was a balk if the pitcher came set with any part of his glove above his chin but after two years they did away with that rule (not sure why but I don't think it is a good one).
Not sure if this was maybe just a state rule or something but I am sure it was at the NFHS rules meeting they told us this.
Actually the rule originally was the ball hand to at or below the chin. In an attempt to get rid of the rule it was suggested that you couldn't tell where the ball was and that it should be taken out of the book. The solution was to change it to the glove has to at or below the chin. This remains the current rule. 6-1-3
