During the AZ Fall League Rising Stars Game, pop up foul off third base. Thirdbaseman made a nice catch but his momentum carried him 2 rows deep into the stands.

Runner on second tagged up and scored.

Two questions:

1. At what point can the ball be called dead? Maybe the fielder gets injured and is unable to get back on his feet to complete the play.

2. What if the fans help the fielder up (as they did here) and the runner is thrown out? Can the runner's team then argue fan interference/illegal assistance?

The current pro practice when a fielder falls into the stands is to keep the ball live if any part of the fielder's body remains in, or over, live ball territory.
