If it's "lodged" in the helmet (umpire judgment), 2 bases from the time of throw. If the catcher can pull the ball out without delay, I'm letting them play on.
this sure sounds like nothing to me. The helmet is the same as a bat lying on the field. unless the ball becomes lodged you just play through it.
If I lose sight of the ball (in the helmet) then it's a dead ball without a doubt. 2 bases.
