I think if recent NCAA Baseball Rules Committee proposal to place a moratorium on composite bats for the 2010 season goes through, High School players will be dropping composite bats like a bad habit, and then, soon after or with the NCAA, NFHS will follow suit and ban them as well... And then of course, Travel Ball players will be using only Alloy bats...

My guy uses a Rawlings Plasma Gold -8 now, and for the '09 Fall & 2010 seasons, because I picked up a few backups and longer lengths for him when I found out Rawlings was discontinuing the bat because their contract with Liquid Metal wasn't renewed...

Tried the Rawlings 5150 Alloy and it's too light in the -9.5 model, and it doesn't seem to have the "pop" of the Plasma. Waiting on a -5 version from Rawlings as a replacement for a dented Plasma that I recently sent back under warranty... So we'll reserve judgment for then...

Having said that, anybody use a -8 (-5 too) ALLOY bat that's as good as the Rawlings Plasma Gold...?

-Thanks.

Absolutely the TPX Omaha...son has used Omahas for 11 years and is hooked. Haven't seen or heard of another bat that as durable, balanced yet maintaining very good pop. he has used every level of Omaha from Youth to Senior to Adult and won't change.

His current Omaha is 3 years old (33/30)and he is still hitting homeruns with it; he won't even look at another bat even though I have tried to get him to play around with an Exogrid. Probably 200+ games plus practices so far with the Omaha. He will probably cry when it finally dies.

Check ebay and the internet and you can get some pretty good deals later this fall.
