R2 takes a lead off second when the batter hits a line drive to the short stop -- who looks R2 from going any further... then throw wild into the bleachers attempting to get the batter runner at first. Umpire calls "time" and awards two bases. R2 never goes back to re-touch second but jogs along with his base awards. Does the defense have the opportunity, based on ORB, to appeal that R2 should have re-touched before taking his base(s) award? I'm not asking about appeals - but the rules application of re-touching after being awarded bases.

I'm assuming there was a R1 that the SS was trying to double off. If not why is he throwing to first on a line out.
As to awards and baserunning, the runner is required to run the bases correctly even on an award. In your play R2 has to retouch or be subject to an appeal. Also, remember in your play, if he touches third before retouching second he can't correct the error.
