Why not DIY?

You don't need to restring the whole glove. You can get a lacing repair kit at most sporting goods stores -- just a threading tool and a length of rawhide.

Tie off the ends of the broken rawhide, then just splice in the repair piece in the middle, from where you tied off one end over to where you tied off the other end.

Annandale Sports on Rt 50 in Fairfax/Chantilly (not sure why its still called Annandale Sports) used to have a guy who was great at restringing gloves in there, and he did it for cheap.

Not sure if he's there anymore, but it may be worth a phone call at least. I got one done from him probably 3 years ago and he did a great job.

Annandale Sports is still there and yes, they do gloves. I got one completely restringed a couple of years ago. Restored a classic A2000 glove.

local shoe repair shops can fix gloves as well.

I keep a repair kit handy for quick fixes, especially during travel ball. You can get a lace puller and some rawhide in a kit (Rawlings) sold at most sporting goods shops. I buy the rawhide and soften it with an oil (neatsfoot, glovoleum, or conditioning paste) and store in a plastic bag. Comes in handy for a quick fix or permanent repair (or at least till you can get it to a pro). Don't pull the broken string, use it to track the pattern as you pull the new. Some gloves have pretty intricate weaves, makes for a long night.

I don't know if Fairfax means Fairfax City or Fairfax County, but if you are in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, try Tony's Shoe Repair in the Woodlawn Shopping Center on Richmond Highway. I liked the work and price on my son's glove.

A show and luggage repair shop in Springfield, 2 doors down from Kilroy's Restaurant, named "eddie's" I think. Not cheap, but does a nice job. Braddock Rd, just outside the beltway.

Thanks for all the information. I took it to Annandale Sports last Saturday and should get the glove back today or tomorrow. The guy there is very helpful.

I used this guy (had to ship to PA) and he had it back to me in three days and done to perfection.

The glove guy at Annandale Sports got the glove Monday morning and it is ready for pickup this morning. He changed the laces in the pocket of the glove. $10.50 total charge.
