Son has a glove that a lace in the pocket broke today and needs to get it repaired as quickly as possible. The glove is only 2 months old but is pretty close to broken in. Does anyone know of any local shops (Fairfax/Northern VA) that repair gloves? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why not DIY?

You don't need to restring the whole glove. You can get a lacing repair kit at most sporting goods stores -- just a threading tool and a length of rawhide.

Tie off the ends of the broken rawhide, then just splice in the repair piece in the middle, from where you tied off one end over to where you tied off the other end.
I keep a repair kit handy for quick fixes, especially during travel ball. You can get a lace puller and some rawhide in a kit (Rawlings) sold at most sporting goods shops. I buy the rawhide and soften it with an oil (neatsfoot, glovoleum, or conditioning paste) and store in a plastic bag. Comes in handy for a quick fix or permanent repair (or at least till you can get it to a pro). Don't pull the broken string, use it to track the pattern as you pull the new. Some gloves have pretty intricate weaves, makes for a long night.

The original store was in Annandale...last I checked (probably many years now) it was still there...anyone know if it is now?

A show and luggage repair shop in Springfield, 2 doors down from Kilroy's Restaurant, named "eddie's" I think. Not cheap, but does a nice job. Braddock Rd, just outside the beltway.
