I have a good friend that scouts for the Chicago Cubs. He coaches a summer fall scout team 18u for the Cubs. He asked me the other day if I was familiar with the College Select team that TR coaches. I told him I was and that I had talked to TR several times. He raved about TR's team and how well they were coached. He went on to say that several of the teams that College Select has played in this area have said the same thing. He also talked about how they played with class and played the game the way it was supposed to be played. He is inviting TR's team down here to play in several round robin tourneys at UNC and several other colleges. It just goes to show you how baseball is really a small circle. How you conduct yourself and treat other people in that circle will either come back to bite you or open doors for you and your kid. Some people could learn a lesson from this.

My son played for TR this fall, and I echo the sentiments. It was a great experience for us and we strongly recommend College Select.

Beyond what he does on the field, I was/am amazed at what he does off the field for the boys.

As to Coach Mays comments, Baseball really is a tightly knit group. If you do a good job and carry yourself well, people will hear. If you do a lousy job or make a jerk of yourself, people will hear.

A coach, player or organization can make or break their reputations in the blink of an eye.

TR congratulations, you sound like me, a no nonsense old school baseball guy.

Coach May you are so right about baseball being a small circle. What goes around comes around, and if you do not conduct yourself in a professional manner on and off of the field it hurts your players. It does not take long for the word to get around the baseball community.

Congratulations again Tom and I know you will continue to do everything you can for your players.

TRHIT comes from the old mold when you gave your word or a handshake it was like a written contract and he stands behind what he has built!

He is a class act who has spent his adult life helping young people to reach there baseball dreams. Nothing complements him more than what his peers have to say about him.

I'll be the first in line to call him my good friend!

Coach May,

Thanks. I enjoy reading and only recently have started posting. This site and especially the participants have brought great joy in the few months that I have been here. I am intriqued by the knowledge of the posters and very impressed with the great players/coaches/scouts/parents that are represented. To my pleasant surprise, there seems to be a trend that the more accomplished the player, the more humble the parent is - a general observation of course.

The human drama on this site is unbelievable - from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows to some very humerous posts.

Bob's post on how he honestly felt after last years MLB draft with respect to his son brought tears to my eyes. I know one day I will experience the same feelings.
