BOF - Thanks for posting.  Truthfully, you could have pulled this list from any random year, and it would be the same top 20 suspects.

Once you get past #20 then you see some of the strong mid-majors appear (Liberty, CoC, Kennesaw, St Johns, Kent St). These are the schools I'm going to be watching this year along with my usual ACC, SEC, Stanford and Ivy schools for D1.  I'm really hoping for Virginia Tech to make some noise in the ACC this year.

I think the one team to pay particular attention to is UVA.  They were national runners up and very young. last year.  That is enough of an East Coast bias to carry me through the day.

Nice to see four of the top ten from Texas.  Fun to follow "local" teams (even though Tech is 520 miles away).  Did Lousiana Lafeyette lose that many players to be outside the top 25?  They ended the season at 9....

My son and I will see at home games for at least Texas, Houston, Rice, TAMU and Sam Houston State.

That was the first question that came to my mind when I read the poll, too.

Regardless of how the season turns out, though, I have to credit the pollsters for having the guts to avoid just recycling last year's standings, the way football polls seem to do.  They have 9 40-win teams outside of the top 40, a sub-.500 team in the top ten, and several big moves up or down within major conferences.

Could spark a few conversations.

I think they had seven drafted and lost two 1st team All Americans in that group. They still have a 1st Team All American SS, Team USA and consensus early 2015 pick Blake Trahan and freshman AA Reagan Bazar, who hit 100 in his first college outing.

The bench last year was very strong with a few LSU cuts, who will play well. Pitching will be a little young, so Like most better mid majors they have to get some players weathered for another run. They will be a very good team.

I watched Mississippi State last year, know who they lost and they are ranked 20. We will be at least as good as MSU.

The recent success has helped recruiting a bunch. 2014 Signings include a former LSU commit at SS and two local guys, Hogan Harris and Nick Lee who could be drafted in the first few rounds in June.

(Actually, in my day, we were the Indians. But you can guess what happened to that!)

Midlo - I'm right there with you.  My alma mater is also pre-season listed (Bryant) for the first time ever, and we used to be the Indians.  Tribe is actually cool and unique IMHO. .
