Yes, it's that time of year again...I've been deemed as this year's PA announcer and official player of the music for pre-game, during game and after game (aka DJ).

I've been asked by players to play things "up to date" and not the same old baseball music - ie. - Put Me In Coach, or whatever that song is and you know the regulars.

The mom's are as bad as the kid's - they seem to go with the Motown sound, but they nearly ran the guy out last year. (Just kidding of course).

I've told the players, pre-game and after game (while raking the field) is theirs, but during the game it belongs to the parents.

So, let's see what you can come up with.

I've downloaded about 60 songs for my this year's edition, and am about to order a new laptop complete with enhancements to use with the PA (the old one really did die Friday if any IRS agents are reading this...) A few new ones for this year (some are old of course): Baba O'Riley, Classical Gas, Theme from Jaws, Juke Box Hero, Beat it, War, Twenty-five Miles, Let's Get It Started, William Tell Overature:Finale (Lone Ranger Theme), Beer for My Horses, Mickey, Vertigo, Venus (Shocking Blue version). Never give a lawyer an open mike....
Hokie,

Where did you come up with those titles ? Does Parker have any say so here ?

Dillon's mom brought a bunch of oldies to a game last year and I almost got fired from my DJ and announcing duties by the team.

Now I get them to tell me ahead of time what to play (with in reason of course)

I've got to get busy on this too !

CV,

The key is not to ask. I only ask what they want to hit the field on, otherwise, my call. I do notice the oldies (70's stuff) gets more crowd movement than the new junk. I get a hoot out of high schoolers coming up and saying "hey, play that Ride, Captain, Ride thing ". All part of their education. Smile

(p.s. my play list comes from roaming Real Player Music Guide for hours... I still can't find "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, take an ugly woman for your wife". Great tune, sure to get groans)

Last year on the HS team each player picked a song for their intro when they went up to bat. It was a lot of fun.
Of course my kid is picked the intro to Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People". It has that strong scary drum guitar thing going. He did lead the team in RBIs but I think that had more to do with the kids hitting in front of him getting on base.
He's kinda partial to AC/DC for his warm-ups. "For those about to Rock".
But his night before involves Mozart and Johnny Cash. But you know what they say about Lefties, they just ain't right.
Personally, I think Surfin' Bird is a good one.
TRhit: wish they would play Queen here instead of (groan) REO Speedwagon. I would have a lot of fun harmonizing with Bohemian Rhapsody, but it would probably cause a quick evaquation of the ballpark Wink
