Did any of you mom's get baseball related presents? Any one get the jewelry that someone put links to on this site? I got a Rawlings black tote! And TPM - I took your suggestion and got son a neck pillow - he loved it!

I got some baseball flip flops that look like the seam of a ball. Very cute. Now if the weather would only get a little warmer

BBfam...same here. We did not have ONE baseball related Christmas present under the tree this year. VERY different from usual Christmas indeed!
We got a family baseball present: tickets for the Red Sox vs. Yankees game, Friday, July 4th at Yankee Stadium! YAHOOOOO (insert Kmom doing a happy dance here

Well, we only had one baseball related gift under the tree this year.
As many know, my son chose to give up baseball this fall due to the fact he and his girlfriend are expecting a child. This development shortly before school started left all of us in a state of mind that was a true emotional rollercoaster. He did what he thought was right and made the decisions that he felt was best for all involved. However, that doesn't mean that he hasn't spent the last few months grieving. Well, his team purchased championship rings from their conference and for being regional runner up. This process began last summer. The rings were quite expensive and each player had to pay for their own. My son, of course, decided that this was a luxury purchase that should not be invested in. I contacted his coach in August when this happened and explained I would like for son's order to be continued and to notify me for payment.
To make a long story fairly short, he had no idea that he was receiving his ring under the tree. I fortunately have this moment on tape, but it was one of the times I've seen my son moved to absolute tears. I think that ring symbolizes the sacrifice he's making because he felt that was the right thing to do. It symbolizes something that he's loved his entire life. I like to think it symbolizes a future that will be one of a champion - his, even if it's not playing baseball any longer.
I have to say - that was probably the best baseball related present I've ever given.

Well...I guess I "lied" a bit here. I did take up the suggestion of using famous people on the gift tags. So...I guess baseball DID make an appearance under our tree this year. Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins really went out of their way to bestow some VERY nice gifts on my kids! And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with their good taste in gift choices!

It sounds as if your son is a wonderful guy. That you were able to give him a gift that touched him so deeply shows how well you know him.
What more could a child ask than to have parents that support them, regardless of where life takes them. What more could a parent ask than that their children, with much thought and weighing of issues, thoughtfully try to do the right thing.
Best wishes to all of your family. Hope the bumps in the road begin to even out for you and that much joy comes your way.

I think you have raised a true champ of a son. I think life has throw him ( & 'yal) a curveball but he has his priorities in order and is doing the right thing. Your story also moved me to tears - how lucky he is to have you for a mom!
Back to baseball presents - I have to confess that I ordered the baseball flip-flops for myself - they are darling! Nolan Ryan and Jeff Bagwell gave my husband and son the Rawlings shaving kits. A baseball stadium snowglobe was also under the tree for my husband. One of the snowglobes I ordered for a relative had all of the water leaking out of it - the Baseball Everything guys were great - just immediately credited my account without my sending it back! Good customer service!

This year baseball gifts included Cardinal t-shirts for 3 of us, son doesn't wear red off of the field.
The neck pillow is an essential, it makes those bus rides a lot more comfy.
Also, the slippers, nothing better than being in cleats or running shoes for 5+ hours a day and putting on comfy slippers.

My wife got a great gift from her son for our baseball office---it is a bracket in bronze that we can affix anywhere, desk or wall ---it says "It is all about Baseball"

Christmas was wonderful in our household tho a lot different from years past with dad-in-law not in attendance, and two moms both wobbling around with their physical limitations. But we had a nice quiet day and I enjoyed it immensely.
