Diablo,

I think that is one of the cool things about baseball, you can do your own thing and watch as others follow you.

Traditional means of giving signs are (1) giving the players an indicator then the next sign to indicate what you want them to do (ie. touch hat (indicator), rub arm (steal); (2) repeat system where you have to touch a sign twice for it to be on; (3) missed sign where you go through a rota or cycle of signs, and whichever one you miss is the one that is on; etc...

I know of coaches who use verbal signals. Others simply relay what they want by where they are in the coaches box. Could keep going.

All about communication. You and your team can come up with these on your own.
a coach I had in the past used a rather good system I think. he would use both hands to give signals, but the actual signal was however many times he touched a certain part of the body with his certain hand. Say he used his left hand as the signal hand, and touched his nose 1x, bunt, 2x, steal, 3x, hit and run, and then different' variations for certain things. cool system I think.
Wrist bands. Just like a football team. You can have them set up lots of different ways. I us 1-99. I call three numbers the teams knows which two number to pick and they look at the sign. For example I call 357. It could be 35, 37, 57, 53, 73 or 75. You can also do a grid. The reference the side and top number and find where they connect. It is so much quicker. The grid can be numbered 1-9 top and side and you could use 1 hand.
