Say something like this, "In life, people can get addicted to many things. With the case of Steve Phillips, he was addicted to ***. Although you may be too young to fully understand this, his addiction to *** was similar to others' addiction to drugs." I would say just that he was addicted to *** and ask him if he has any questions about it. Then just answer him truthfully. He might know more than you think.
I agree with CADad.
This, to me, is just the manipulation of PR through the press to recreate an image of Phillips in a different light than what was left last August.
Even if all of what he said were true, why go on TV?
It, if true, is a personal and family issue. Because of his being a father and husband, it actually is a family and then personal issue in my view.
Phillips obligations are to his wife and children. This is a private family issue that went public last August.
He is the one who now chooses to make a private family matter a public one. Phillips is making this about him when, in my view, it is about what how his actions and conduct impacted his children and marriage.
Here he is again making it about him.
Behind the scenes, just as with McGuire, my bet is there has to be a PR person/team providing advice and guidance and that is what the interview was about and nothing else. To me, the words were hollow.
