Well in a week I have my highschool tryouts. By the way im a freshman. I have been working hard the last 8-10 weeks working out, throwing, hitting... and i think im ready for them. What should I expect to see. Also what are the coaches like in tryouts? (screaming??) I was caught off guard trying out for basketball because of the way the coach acted on the court was nothing like the way he acted in the class room.( I will have no problem with the screaming because Im used to it)

What stuff do they do for pitchers as well?

Thanks for any help!

What team are you hoping to make? I'm a freshman also, and had enough skill and was fortunate enough make Varsity. Hopefully my list will help.

1. Have a good attitude
2. Always HUSTLE (you never know who's watching you)
3. Wear baseball pants
4. Look organized. (No crooked hat or untucked shirt/jersey.
5. BE ON TIME TO TRYOUTS
6. Listen to your coaches when they talk and make eye contact.
7. Don't dwell on your mistakes. evertbody makes them.
Good Luck with tryouts!

As I told my son as he went through the 6th grade evaluation process (I just found out he made the "A" team), it's not enough that you KNOW what you're doing. You also need to LOOK like you know what you're doing.

That means good form on grounders (two hands and square where possible) and pop flies (two hands if possible). No lazy or stabbing plays.

That also means wearing baseball gear and hustling on everything.

As a coach, the guys that drive me crazy are the ones who have the talent but who refuse to recognize that there is a right way to do things or to do things the right way. I'm all for indidividualism, but when it comes to most things about baseball there really is a right way and a wrong way.

And if a guy isn't going to use good form in an evaluation, why should I think he'll use good form during a game?
