in one of last nights games (think it was the bosox) there was a game ending bases loaded walk; when the batter hung around home to celebrate with the incoming runner; teammates were yelling at him to go to fist. Question is - is there a timeframe for going to first? If the runner had touched home, does the batter still have to go to first, and if the catcher had tagged the runner before crossing home (unlikely scenario granted) - is there a situation where the run wouldnot of counted (delay of game etc).

It was entertaining to watch big leaguers act like LL.

everytime I hear of this type of stuff, it makes me cringe............

What edition of the MLBUM are you using Mr Umpire?

I don't see that covered as abandonment.

Maybe I read the OP wrong but I read it as a question of "Is there a situation where the run would not have counted?"

Not, about the part of tagging the runner before crossing HP, I was not referring to that at all. On a bases loaded walk, that isn't a possibility I know.

If bases loaded, 2 outs. Batter gets walked. He and R3 have to touch their next base. If either one never touches their next base, then that runner is out for abandonment and no run counts.

That is how I read the OP question. I didn't see it as calling any INT or "delay of game". I read it as R3 and/or BR do not touch the next base. Now, I wish I had the MLBUM to quote what I was referring to. I am pretty sure I read it that way but will definitely verify b/c I may be thinking about something else. It may be about a "walk off" HR I am referring to. Not sure at this point but it is under abandonment.

Okay....I guess I got distracted by: "Either R3 and BR touch or they don't and are called out for abandonment. Clearly stated for this type of scenario in MLBUM."
