My son and I were watching a game recently. We got bored so we starting thinking up hypothetical situations on the field and their rulings.

We disagreed on this ruling:

Batter bunts the ball. He lays down the bat outside the batters box, and runs to first. The ball then hits the bat as it lies on the ground in fair territory. What is the ruling? Is the ball live or is the batter out?

Am i wrong? I will look this up in the fed rule book.

Yes, you are wrong. Again, there is a difference between the ball hitting the bat and the bat hitting the ball.

unfortunately yes you are.......here are the two scenarios and the outcomes....think of it this way....

The batter bunts the ball and then drops the bat in fair territory and then the ball hits the bat a second time...this is not interference...so play on....

The batter bunts the ball and then throws the bat and the bat hits the ball a second time...this is interference....dead ball...batter out....
