What size bat should I buy my son for this baseball season. He is playing Babe Ruth. He is about 5-4, 115lbs. Was thinking either a drop 8 or a drop 5. Any suggestions on what would be better? Probably use a 32 inch? Thanks!!

It's difficult for people who have never seen your son swing at bat to provide bat advice. When my son entered middle school he was required to use a -3 bat. So he did the same for travel. At thirteen a kid is typically in 7th grade. This means he's two years removed from high school ball. The lightest bat I would have him swing is a -5 and absolutely move to a -3 next year. The length and weight should the largest he can swing in a mechanically sound manner.
Good point, below is the link to his swing from about 6 months ago. This is only his 1st year of really playing. Just a very good athlete who has picked up baseball pretty good. The swing is better now than this video, but what size bat would you think? He is 13 and turns 14 in december. Little bit bigger now than he was in this video:
Sounds to me as though he’s not too far away from HS ball, and then your problems are solved because everyone swings a drop 3! So, find the shortest drop 3 BBCOR you can get your hands on, and let him suffer for a few weeks.
Get him a drop 5. But something less than the 32 inches, that will be too big. I think a 30 or 31 inch. Good luck.
