I have my hands up in my stance ( see pic ) but bring them down as I load. I am hitting fine right now, but I am wondernig if I start with them back I might get some more power. Or should I stick with the "if its not broke dont fix it?"

It might be hard to know what im talking about from just the pic/description, should I put a clip of an accual swing?

thanks in advance

Bluedog, the kid asked about dropping his hands and questioned whether he should fix what's not broke as he's hitting fine. Having looked at his base which appears ok...in keeping it simple and bearing in mind your dealing with a still pic...as long as he's loading properly and getting his hands in proper position he should be fine.

Considering the varying degree of stances of hitters at the MLB level...i.e. completely upright to very crouched... hands very high over head to very low waist level...hands way out to tucked in tight..base fairly narrow to extremely wide...I'd say stance is more a matter of personal preference...Just don't see the similarities or connection between stance and success as a hitter but would appreciate hearing your take as to why the stance is hugely important as I may just learn something new. Smile Thanks.
Bluedog, my initial reply was in response to his original pic..."stance being a matter of preference as long as he's loading properly he should be fine" to which you stated the importance of the stance.....now your getting a bit off topic here as your questioning whether he's loaded properly in the 2nd pic...being a still pic you don't know if he's still in the loading process
but if your asking if he's properly loaded and in ideal launch postion in that pic would say no...
BDog, my friend you can be a little tough to read and follow at times Smile ....I see your point (I think) regarding the importance of getting from stance to proper load to which I fully agree...and I was implying that the stance (pre-load / pre-swing position) becomes an issue if the hitter is failing to load timely and properly.

I suppose we're traveling different paths....
Believe it's more a matter of same sheet music -different key... Big Grin
