I think Courtland and Eastern View will be tough this year. I believe Spotsylvania will take the crown though. Returning 7 of their 9 starters from last years regular season championship team. A solid lineup including 6 seniors and rotation will lead them to a repeat title. And I'm pretty sure they're returning the Battlefield District's POY in Matt Houston.
quote:
Courtland will take the Battlefield with ease with top players like McBroom, Lenox, Keranen, Haught, Rausch, and others.

These are all fine players, no question about it.... but "with ease" ....

I guess time will tell, but Spotsylvania as I recall returns 7 of 9 starters from last year's district championship team including Matt Houston who earned and deserved all kinds of indivdual awards...

Yes, Spotsylvania lost a really good coach in Kocher and I have no idea who will replace him... But this school has proven to be a consistent winner in baseball with and without Coach Kocher, capturing the district title in 8 of the last 12 season's....

Spotsylvania's consistently a very good program and you might be right, Courtland may win it in 2010, but I doubt Spotsylvania will lay down and I doubt it will be with ease....

How about Eastern View, they had a good introductory season last year - how do they stand in 2010?

I am not sure of the kids name, just a rumor i heard through the grapevine of the transfer to caroline. Courtland will be the toughest in the district. Spotsy and EV will be good also, you never know what chancellor will bring and culpeper will prob. be young but decent. I think Courtland should return 8 out of 9 starters and was prob the second best team, Spotsy should return 7 who won the regular season and EV who won the district tournament title should return 5 starters. what about chancellor who beat spotsy and then got beat by EV in the tourney championship what do they have returning.

beats me, heard through the grapevine they got a kid who was from PH. not sure how good the source is, but that is what i heard.

anyone got anything else on the district, who is the best hitter, is it mcbroom of courtland, scott of eastern view, houston of spotsy, anyone else?

Also heard spotsy hired there third base coach from last years varsity squad, durocher maybe is his name.

Spotsylvania's new head man is Coach Ryan Davenport. He was an excellent choice to replace Mary Washington bound Coach Brad Kocher.

Coach Davenport comes to us from Walhalla, SC. His previous experience includes playing college ball at USC Spartansburg and being a high school assistant and head coach. He also has been active in the summer, working to help develop players at Clemson's summer camps for years.

With the addition of Coach Davenport, Spotsylvania's baseball program will continue to flourish.
yes spotsy went to regionals won the regular season, but IMO courtland was the best team besides eastern view. This year courtland is still strong, i think coach davenport will do fine if he is that active at spotsy. i hope someone from the battlefield makes it to radford this year. But do you know if there are 2 teams going or 3. I think the race for 2,3,4 should be interesting in the battlefield this season.
