amazing to see some off the HR numbers....the team leader for UVA has 3 through 34 games....thats the #2 team in the country
last year after 65 games 3 UVA hitters had 10 or more
I'm amazed by JMU. They are flat-out ripping the baseball. Team has 62 bombs (Lowery has 17). Insane...

Not to denigrate their prowess, but does this aberration have anything to do with the location of the new stadium + the winds up in their area?
I don't see how, esp. for lefty hitters. That new field sits low and if anything, I'd expect winds to blow in off the road above RF.
The old field had a short porch in right, but this is just a case of the hitters dominating.

I went to two games at JMU a few weeks ago. In the night game there was a very strong breeze to right, and there were two HRs to right (one by each team) The following late afternoon game there was a strong breeze (threat of thunderstorms) to left field. Two HRs to left field gap, and one by each team.
There was one AB that got my attention. My son was pitching late in a close game to Jake Lowery (JMU cleanup hitter). Jake threw his hands at a two strike pitch (pitchers pitch) and it went all the way to the left field warning track on what looked like a routine pop-up. The catch was made against the fence. Two things come to mind. First, Jake is one strong kid. Second, he is one smart kid because he knew where to hit it to catch maximimum wind to have a chance to go out. I think the JMU kids know where to hit it based on the situation and they are getting a max advantage at their field.
